Deterministic approximations to stochastic production problems. (English) Zbl 0562.90081
The authors consider deterministic approximations to a non-sequential stochastic production problem with setup cost. It is shown that for the most commonly used probability distributions of the demands, the relative error bounds tend to be very small. A sequential stochastic problem without setup cost is also considered and its relationship to the non- sequential case is discussed.
