Taub, A. H. Singular shocks. (English) Zbl 0546.76086 Math. Today 1, 25-42 (1983). In this paper I shall discuss some properties of the solutions of the equations of motion of a perfect selfgravitating fluid behind a shock wave. These will be used to determine conditions that must occur at points on the shock front and at events on \(\Sigma\), the hypersurface describing its history, at which the normal to the shock, its extrinsic curvature, or derivatives of this curvature, are discontinuous. Shocks containing such points will be said to be singular at these singular points.
