Degree elevation of interval Bézier curves and surfaces. (Chinese. English summary) Zbl 1056.65012

Summary: The degree elevation formulae for Bézier curves and surfaces are generalized to interval Bézier curves and surfaces. It is proved that the union of interval control points converges to the original interval Bézier curves as the degree is elevated incessantly. So do the interval Bézier surfaces. These formulae enable us to convert an interval Bézier curve or surface of lower degree to a higher one which has more flexibility in controlling its shape. Also they provide us an efficient geometric method to generate an interval Bézier curve or surface.
