Calculation of three-dimensional rotational effect on blade aerodynamic characteristics. (Chinese. English summary) Zbl 1246.76035

Summary: The flow separation is delayed under rotation action, its result changes the blade aerodynamic characteristics greatly compared to its non-rotating counterpart. This phenomenon caused by the rotation is called three-dimensional (3-D) rotational effect. Using the results of the 3-D integral boundary layer equations, this paper gives an analytical relationship between the 3-D rotational effect and the flow separation. It lays a foundation for accurately calculating the aerodynamic loads on rotating blades. Calculational results of unsteady loads on the wind turbine blade show that the calculation is improved by the 3-D rotational effect.
