Consensus of hierarchical classifications. (English) Zbl 0897.62062

Summary: After briefly reviewing the techniques to achieve one or more consensus dendrograms, we propose new algorithms. These perform a sequence of elementary tree operations to obtain at each step, in a greedy fashion, a dendrogram that is as close as possible to the given ones. The time and the space complexities of such procedures make them suitable for large scale applications. A numerical example is used to show the proposed technique.
