Uddin, M. S. Radiation effects on MHD flow and heat transfer over a permeable shrinking sheet subject to suction. (English) Zbl 1433.76188 Bull. Calcutta Math. Soc. 104, No. 4, 341-352 (2012). Summary: In this paper the effects of thermal radiation on the steady MHD boundary layer flow and heat transfer past a shrinking sheet with substantial amount of suction is studied. The uniform magnetic field is taken normal to the plane of flow. The governing equations are transformed into a set of self-similar equations using similarity transformations. Then the obtained self-similar equations are solved by finite difference method using quasilinearization technique. This study reveals that the momentum boundary layer thickness decreases with increase of wall suction and magnetic field. The temperature decreases with Hartmann number, Prandtl number and radiation parameter. Furthermore, the thermal radiation boosts the heat transfer rate from the sheet.
