Methods Comput. Appl. 38, No. 1, 1-10 (2017). Summary: In order to study dynamic response of time-varying mass system, a vibration analysis method for time-varying mass system based on momentum conservation is developed in this paper. Different from other vibration analysis methods for time-varying mass system, the developd vibration analysis method possesses the following properties: (1) The effect of mass changing rate on damping is not considered when the differential equation of dynamic system is established; (2) The velocity of the system is varied as a result of the mass changing when the system response of next time interval is obtained. The variation of the velocity is based on the law of momentum conservation. The developed vibration analysis method was validated using some examples. The simulation and experimental example indicate that the developed vibration analysis method can be used to study dynamic response of time-raising mass system.
