Covariant quantization of the bosonic string field theory. (English) Zbl 0957.81709
Summary: A generalized BRST formalism is developed and used to quantize E. Witten’s [Nucl. Phys. B 268, No. 2, 253-294 (1986)] field theory of interacting open bosonic strings. The method is based on an off-shell nilpotent BRST symmetry, which is realized by introducing a set of auxiliary fields. An important role in our approach is played by the structure of the classical gauge algebra.
