Summary: In this paper a geometric closure method for radiative transfer equations has been developed and investigated using particular geometric configurations. Then we propose a new formulation of the Eddington factor (and the related flux limiter) adapted to radiative transfer calculations, whereas classical Eddington’s approximation cannot be applied. Moreover, a numerical scheme and numerical results for the new flux limiter are presented in two dimensions configurations.
