A new dimension to Turing patterns. (English) Zbl 1007.35037

The authors study two examples of reaction-diffusion systems in three dimensions. Using the periodic boundary conditions in the simulations presented, the authors investigate the morphology and stability of a generic Turing system in three dimensions and their Gray-Scott model. The authors results raise the question of whether Turing patterning can produce an inductive signaling mechanism for neuronal growth.
