The authors present results recently carried out with new integration techniques in fluid mechanics. The paper describes an iterative defect correction and multigrid accelerated explicit time stepping for steady Euler equations, and the convergence behavior of defect correction for hyperbolic equations. As reported in the introduction, this work was substantially stimulated by Prof. Baayen. For further details the reader is referred to SIAM articles, referenced in the paper.
