Gronau, Detlef Johannes Kepler und die Logarithmen. (J. Kepler and logarithms). (German) Zbl 0652.01011 Ber. Math.-Stat. Sekt. Forschungsges. Joanneum-Graz 284, 41 p. (1987). During his work on the Rudolphine Tables Kepler learned about the new method of calculation by means of logarithms introduced by Jost Bürgi (published 1620) and John Napier (1614). This led him to reformulate the work on the Rudolphine Tables (1627), as well as to calculate his own tables of logarithms including an original treatise on the underlying theoretical basis, namely in “Chilias logarithmorum” (1624), and “Supplementum Chiliadis logarithmorum” (1625). The author translates and comments upon a selection of key propositions from Kepler’s theory.
