Effects of surfactants on an undeformable drop initially at rest. (English) Zbl 0829.76021
Summary: The surface flow and the translational motion of a drop caused by interfacial tension gradients are investigated in the case of an undeformable drop, initially at rest (or at zero gravity). The interfacial tension gradients are induced by injecting the drop with surfactant. The spreading of the surfactant on the interface is described by a particular law. A covering degree of the drop by the surfactant is found out beginning when the drop undergoes an upward translational motion.
