Numerical modelling of a bridge subjected to simultaneous effect of a moving load and a vertical seismic ground excitation. (English) Zbl 1374.35256

The paper deals with numerical solution of bridge vibration caused by simultaneous moving loads and seismic excitation. The bridge is modelled as a simply supported beam and the equation of motion is solved by the finite difference method. There are three examples solved and the numerical solution is also compared with analytical solution. One example represents undamped vibration while two other examples represent damped vibration. The earthquake is described by several Fourier components and a simple modulation function.
