(English) Zbl 0999.93056 Grötschel, Martin (ed.) et al., Online optimization of large scale systems. Berlin: Springer. 363-383 (2001). Using a relatively simple control example (the control of a high purity binary distillation column), Nonlinear Predictive Control (NMPC) is applied using specialized dynamic optimization strategies for large scale systems. An efficient real-time optimization scheme is based on a multiple shooting method and is characterized by an initial value embedding strategy and real-time iterations. The work is a reference paper for the NMPC optimization problem. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0971.00007].
