Letters of A. V. Vasil’ev to G. Mittag-Leffler. (Russian) Zbl 0788.01037

The Russian mathematician A. V. Vasil’ev (1853-1929) studied in St. Petersburg and later had postgradual education in Berlin with Weierstraß and Kronecker and in Paris with Hermite. He held chairs in Kazan (since 1887), St. Petersburg (since 1907), and Moscow (since 1923). His research was devoted to complex functions, the distribution of roots of polynomials, and later on to the history of mathematics. He popularized modern mathematics in Russia and was engaged in organizational matters. The 11 letters presented here all are quite short and essentially devoted to organizational matters. They had been written in French (one in German) but are only given in Russian translation. There is a biographical introduction and notes with the letters.
