The authors introduce the notions of essentially slant Hankel operator and compression of an essentially slant Hankel operator motivated by the definitions of essentially slant Toeplitz operator and compression of a slant Hankel operator. The basic algebraic properties of the corresponding classes of operators are derived, and it is also proved that a Rhaly operator on the Hardy space \(H^2\) is the compression of an essentially slant Toeplitz operator if and only if it is the compression of an essentially slant Hankel operator on \(H^2\).
